Ask the Questions
As Gwen Stefani says, "I've had it up to here!"
But I also had something great happen this month! (Check out the convo with my son's doctor, below!)
Let me ask the hard question: Are you one of the many people who believe in drug commercials on TV and do as they say, and go ask your doctor about it? Hopefully you have a doctor who is holistic and believes in integrative practices and they tell you the truth about what these drugs can do or not do for you.
Don't get me wrong, Modern Medicine has in many cases saved my family members and friends who've had heart attacks, serious diseases, and I have several medical practitioner family members and friends who I respect dearly but the truth is 70% of what we go to the doctor for can be prevented at home with holistic means.
I remember about 15 years ago, a hormone drug came out to help menopausal women with their hot flash situation (ahem - clary calm on your abdomen and peppermint on the back of your neck!). Some older women I knew took the drug. My mom didn't. She had a funny feeling. She, just like she did through the 3 births of her children, said, "I'll deal with this naturally." 15 years later, it was reported that this drug had major side effects, should be on the carcinogen list, and even caused death in some patients. Good intuition, mom!
Guys - this hasn't stopped.
Have you seen a commercial about this one recently? The doctor just came clean.
To quote this article, the first quote from Dr. Harper, the doctor "responsible for the Phase II and Phase III safety and effectiveness studies undertaken in order to secure the approval of the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccines":
'βThe benefit to public health is nothing, there is no reduction in cervical cancers, they are just postponed, unless the protection lasts for at least 15 years, and over 70% of all sexually active females of all ages are vaccinated.β She has also stated that side effects of [the drug] have indicated that the vaccine could prove riskier than cervical cancer it purports to prevent. Cervical cancer is usually entirely curable when detected early through normal Pap screenings.'
Here's the thing guys - those drugs the TV commercials urge you to take? The vitamins and "food" you consume that are filled with red dye and "flavorings"? Your body does not recognize them as real. So when all of a sudden you have things wrong with you and you're not sure why? The body is a strong and amazing machine but it builds up eventually with the crap we fill it in the form of holes in our stomach (leaky gut) and ulcers (caused by long-term use of synthetic pain relievers).
Recently my son had a tick in his head. We got it in time, thank God. I had several conversations with his doctor, asking if she would recommend antibiotics, which she declined (yay!). I decided to use the opportunity to have a conversation with her. I said, "Doc, can I ask you something? I'm a holistic wellness coach and I use essential oils daily in our family. I'm gonna go home, and put Manuka oil on the tick bite and put it on him every day as I check the bite. Would you be open to having ongoing conversations with me about these oils? I constantly access studies that have been done on essential oils through the Aromatic Science website, through Google Scholar and Pubmed. I'm not medically trained, but if I bring you the studies, would you be open to looking at them and discussing them with me?"
She said, "Jennie I don't doubt that this stuff works - it's been around for thousands and thousands of years! The thing is - we're just not trained on it! I would be totally happy to look at studies you've found and look at them with you!"
I implore you to start asking questions, while you look them straight in the eyes, of your doctor (what will this really do for me?), your grocer (do you have anything without the label "flavorings (which is a term on labels that is totally unregulated), dye, or high fructose corn syrup?), your herbalist (do you have a tea that will help calm me or recommend any tinctures that would help me?), your chiropractor ("I heard that alignment of the spine creates optimal health in the body - can you explain this more to me?"), your neighbor (Hey I've heard you take natural supplements - what do they do for you?"), and your essential oil holistic wellness coach - wink, wink - ("what essential oils can I start out with that are going to 1)boost my immune system to fight ailments naturally 2)help my kids and me fall asleep better at night and 3)reduce anxious feelings?") And then I would tell you that when you purchase the Home Essentials Kit, The Family Essentials Kit, or the Natural Solutions Kit, you will have an incredible foundation of healing, I'd go over every oil and every question you have with a personal wellness call or meeting, and you would literally have me as a coach, free, for the rest of your life. (What more could you want?!) :) :) :) :) :)
