That’s What I’m Here For

Teaching Yoga.
I’m here because I want to be
Because it helps MY practice
Because after years and years of practice, I was bursting at the seams and couldn’t hold it in for myself any longer
I’m here because I want to teach you what my teachers taught me
Because this knowledge should be shared
Because this practice should be passed along
Because I agree with the Dalai Lama when he said, “If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.”
I’m here to give you suggestions
I’m here to empower you with your own knowledge and practice…
So that one day, you’ll no longer need me
So that you may pass this knowledge and practice on to somebody else
I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to be perfect…
Because I sure as hell am not
But that if you try to better yourself in some way, every single day, then you’re doing good for humanity
That you ought to love yourself
That having a yoga practice will cultivate that love
But I’m here to tell you that your yoga practice doesn’t have to be physical or on a yoga mat
That yoga is being aware
That yoga is smiling in this moment
That yoga is being present for your kids
That yoga is tending to your garden or yard
That yoga is smiling and listening when someone needs you
That yoga is doing what you absolutely love, as long as it brings joy and happiness to yourself and to others
That yoga is lending a helping hand
Being with family
Spending time with friends
Getting to know someone new
I’m here because I love what I do
Because I want to help someone feel as good as I felt when someone shared this practice with me
I’m your yoga teacher
That’s what I’m here for
